mantra loop generator is the first solo project to be held at HONF, Yogyakarta 2019. This project presents experimental work by combining digital animation medium, electronics, and analog drive machines on iron sculpture.

This project discusses the terror bombing of several churches in Surabaya by Islamic radicals in 2018. Three of them are the Church of Santa Maria Without Blemish, GKI Diponegoro, and the Central Pentecostal Church of Surabaya. At that time, a big impact occurred on the situation of religious tolerance and which caused paranoia for Surabaya.

Mantra Loop Generator visually show how society, like an individual, can live and survive only in the coding of flows. Humanity has progressed, albeit in a non-linear way, towards the current capitalist situation, that is to say towards a complete, destructive decoding of fluxes. There is a fairly widespread and fairly intuitive perception of today’s world in its essence as a regime or a type of economic, political and social functioning in which the old, traditional codes collapse. What we sometimes call ideology , promises us a quasi-ubiquity, allows us to detach ourselves more and more from the earth, to fly to heaven as gods, or to become deterritorialized, to use Deleuze’s term.

This project tries to question again how religion actually functions, while the basic principles of Indonesia as a godly state and have recognized the diversity of religions as well as races.
